Top 10 Best Camping Meals 2023

At TravelChair, we know that camping is a great way to get outside, enjoy nature, and disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life. But let’s be real, food is an important part (an also favorite part) of camping. Whether it’s a multi-day backpacking trip or a weekend car camping excursion, meals play a role in the overall experience.

Having a balanced meal before a long day of hiking or exploring fuels the body and sustains energy levels.  Food plays a crucial role in providing nutrients needed to keep the body healthy and functioning. It’s a nice way to refuel and recharge before heading out again.  Cooking and eating together is also a great way to bond with friends and family when camping. It’s a way to create memories and share stories around the warm fire.

But planning meals for a camping trip can be tricky. You have to consider things like weight, shelf life, and cooking methods when deciding what to bring. It’s also important to consider how much time and energy you’ll have for cooking and clean-up. That’s why it’s important to plan ahead and choose meals that are easy to make and don’t require too much prep work. Luckily, there are plenty of options that will make your camping trip more savory!

Here are a few of our favorites:

  • Tin foil packets: These are a camping classic and for good reason. Simply put your desired ingredients (such as diced potatoes, veggies, and meat) in a piece of foil, seal it up, and toss it on the campfire. In just a few minutes, you’ll have a hot and delicious meal.
  • Dutch ovens: These heavy-duty pots are perfect for camping because they can be used on a campfire or over a bed of coals. They’re great for making stews, soups, and even bread.
  • Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup: This classic combo is easy to make and always satisfying. Be sure to bring pre-made soup and bread, and make your grilled cheese over the campfire.
  • Campfire Pizzas: These are a fun and easy way to make pizza while camping. Remember to pack pre-made pizza dough, your favorite toppings, and a pie iron. Place the dough and toppings in the iron and cook over the campfire for a few minutes.
  • Breakfast Burritos: These are a great way to start your day on the campsite. Pack pre-cooked bacon, eggs, and tortillas. You can also add veggies, cheese, and salsa to make it more flavorful.
  • Campfire Cones: These are a fun and easy way to make a sweet treat while camping. Fill a waffle cone with your favorite fruits, nuts, and chocolate chips. Wrap it in foil and heat it over the campfire for a few minutes. You can have an ice cream cone with melted chocolate and fruits.
  • Kabobs: Kabobs are a great way to make a variety of different meats and veggies while camping. Simply skewer your ingredients, grill them over the campfire, and enjoy.
  • Classic Chili: Chili is a great option for camping because it’s easy to make and can be cooked in a single pot. Simply bring pre-made chili or make your own with canned beans, diced tomatoes, and ground beef. Heat it over the campfire and serve with bread or crackers.
  • Mac & Cheese: Bring a box of macaroni and cheese and a small pot to make a delicious and easy camping meal. Cook the macaroni according to the package directions and add the cheese sauce. You can also add some veggies or meat for more flavor.
  • S’mores: Last but not least, S’mores are a classic camping treat. Simply roast a marshmallow over the campfire and sandwich it between two graham crackers with a piece of chocolate.

No matter what meals you choose, remember to pack all the necessary ingredients and cooking equipment. With a little planning and preparation, you’ll be able to enjoy delicious meals while camping. Happy camping!

Slacker Stool- 1389V

"I now keep one in my car ready for any type of activity where sitting is preferable than standing. You can insert your own activity here. The size make this easy to grab when in doubt, and has often served as a life saver.

Easily stored and low-profile. Almost no bigger or heavier than an umbrella. You will not complain taking it with you and will be rewarded by being rested and comfortable when you get up."

    Joey Chair- 7789V

"After owning this chair for a little more than half a year, I can confirm that this chair is all-around amazing. It is extremely comfortable and it is pretty light weight.

As others have mentioned, the feet outperform other chairs that have straight feet in the sand. The feet design allows for the chair to sit on top of sand rather than sinking in.

My friends are always jealous when I bring this chair to the park (which is every time, since its so easy to pack). So much that we often end up taking turns on it
If you're debating whether or not to get it, do yourself a favor and just buy it!"

    Big Kahuna- 599

"Awesome sturdy comfortable chair. I don't know why but I am the King Champion of breaking folding camp chairs. I am 6'2" 295lbs and have broke many 300lbs rated chairs, one chair cut up the back of my knee pretty good when it failed.

My son is 6'7" 325lbs and plays major college football, he has not even come close to breaking as many chairs as I have. Well the Big Kahuna Chair is rock solid and comfortable I don't ever see this chair failing. If it ever does I'll post it."
