Did you know that TravelChair is a woman-owned business? TravelChair also boasts a majority female staff and a community-centered business. President, Holly Roso, recounts growing up in an entrepreneurial family, “What is great about TravelChair is that the company is generational – my mom was one of the founders! Growing up, my sister and I were able to work alongside our mom who taught us what it takes to own and operate a business. At the time, there were not many women-owned businesses, and I was inspired by her strength to pioneer business ownership.”
In male-driven industries, such as outdoor recreation and manufacturing, women are often under-represented. This can lead to a mindset that women aren’t meant for this type of business and often women are working harder to prove themselves. Other than endurance in the midst of others’ doubt, Holly lets TravelChair’s top-of-the-line products do the talking. Functional gear meets aesthetics thanks to Holly’s keen eye for visual appeal. This opens up a lot more opportunities for male and female buyers alike.
Outside of being TravelChair’s pack leader, Holly also leads a pack of 3 kiddos at home. The Roso tribe enjoys getting outside for hiking, camping, and surfing! As if that doesn’t keep her busy, she also works as a clinical psychologist in her community. Let’s just say, her heart for serving and outreach does not go unnoticed by her family and peers.
This month, TravelChair celebrates gaining its woman-owned accreditation through the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). Since 1997, the WBENC has worked to develop a nationwide standard for women-owned businesses…and that they have! The WBENC is now the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the United States and an advocate for women entrepreneurs. The WBENC is a non-profit organization that dedicates its time and resources to helping women-owned business thrive.
