About Travel Chair

Since 1984 we have been designing travel chairs in Gig Harbor, Washington. We overbuild them from the nylon that we use in the feet to the webbing that holds the seatbacks to the frames. We’re just that way. Hey – we know that it’s just a chair. But we want it to be the best chair that you’ve ever owned.

About TRAVELCHAIR:

We have been a stable brand in the outdoor camping/recreation industry since our conception. TravelChair is a women led; second generation family business, located in town of Gig Harbor, in Washington State.

To put it simply- we make the very best camp gear on the face of the planet, and we are proud of it. We put our decades of chair manufacturing knowledge and best practices into every product we create, only using the finest materials to give you the greatest camp furniture possible.

TravelChair Products are always Built for Good- Good Purpose, Good Experience, Good Product.

Good Purpose

To inspire others to spend more time outside and to help our community along the way.

Good Experience

To enhance time outside with simple and comfortable gear.

Good Product

To build a dependable, well-designed product that is easy to use and built to last.

OUR MISSION:

At TravelChair, we believe the best things in life are found outside. This belief has inspired us since 1984 to develop gear that enhances your experience outdoors with products that are easy to use and durable.

The Sum of our Parts

We believe that we are only as good as the materials we use to build our products- which is why we exclusively use the very best materials and manufacturing practices for our products. We want to give you the best camp furniture possible.

Frames

Our powder coated steels and aircraft grade aluminums are a tier- higher than what is typically on the market and a tick or two thicker as well. We exclusively use only the highest quality metals for our frames. Are you thinking of getting that less expensive chair? Just remember, it’s less expensive for a reason. And it’s not what you get, but what’s missing that you will really feel when you use it.

Fabric

The common thread throughout our line is that each fabric must be the ultimate in durability for its intended use. Take the 600 denier nylon. We use a double layer instead of a single layer like the discount store chairs.  Of course, along the way we put it through product testing in the Desert Southwest, in Chilean Patagonia and in our own warehouse.

Feet

Who would think that a little black piece could be so important? Feet hold the chair together and keep you out of the dirt. Our feet are designed, like our molded grommets, to be at peace when loaded. Our nylon insures that the feet in your chair will be yoga flexible and powerlifter strong.

Grommets

TRAVELCHAIR® molds grommets to conform to optimal angles when the chair is loaded. High strength nylon and double stitching means no compromise in durability for you.

Rivets

Not all rivets are the same – ours are oversized to maintain frame integrity. Instead of drilling a large hole to drop our rivet into and then mashing down the ends for a tight fit, we drill to exacting tolerances, which means more manufacturing time spent creating TRAVELCHAIR® products, and much longer, happier life in your hands.

Design

TRAVELCHAIR® started the whole folding furniture genre in 1984. Natural selection has led to a design that is as simple, as light and as tough as possible. Since 1984 we have sold over 2.5 million chairs – that’s a lot of real life abuse (we call it product testing).

Webbing

Seat belt webbing is good enough to save your life and it is good enough to reinforce our chairs. We could do the “industry standard” and just take another fold of our 600 denier fabric for reinforcements, but we wouldn’t be happy with the results. Neither would you.

Details

We overbuild. You will probably never notice things like bar tacking, doubling of fabrics and reinforcement fabrics made of seat belt material, but we will. The bottom line is that attention to detail makes good designs work best.

Slacker Stool- 1389V

"I now keep one in my car ready for any type of activity where sitting is preferable than standing. You can insert your own activity here. The size make this easy to grab when in doubt, and has often served as a life saver.

Easily stored and low-profile. Almost no bigger or heavier than an umbrella. You will not complain taking it with you and will be rewarded by being rested and comfortable when you get up."

    Joey Chair- 7789V

"After owning this chair for a little more than half a year, I can confirm that this chair is all-around amazing. It is extremely comfortable and it is pretty light weight.

As others have mentioned, the feet outperform other chairs that have straight feet in the sand. The feet design allows for the chair to sit on top of sand rather than sinking in.

My friends are always jealous when I bring this chair to the park (which is every time, since its so easy to pack). So much that we often end up taking turns on it
If you're debating whether or not to get it, do yourself a favor and just buy it!"

    Big Kahuna- 599

"Awesome sturdy comfortable chair. I don't know why but I am the King Champion of breaking folding camp chairs. I am 6'2" 295lbs and have broke many 300lbs rated chairs, one chair cut up the back of my knee pretty good when it failed.

My son is 6'7" 325lbs and plays major college football, he has not even come close to breaking as many chairs as I have. Well the Big Kahuna Chair is rock solid and comfortable I don't ever see this chair failing. If it ever does I'll post it."
