SEATTLE, WA – The Insect Shield TravelChair and Bunk Sack were included in the 10 winners among 1,650 products evaluated by the Good Housekeeping Research Institute as “Best New Products 2010.” The 2010 Good Housekeeping VIP (Very Innovative Product) award winners include a wide range of categories, including beauty, cooking, outdoor gear, home entertainment, cleaning, energy efficiency, and electronics. From a digital camera with a built-in projector to a flexible grilling skewer to the Insect Shield TravelChair and Bunk Sack, the VIP Awards recognize the year’s breakthrough new products that solve every day problems in new and exciting ways.

The scientists and engineers at the Good Housekeeping Research Institute, the magazine’s state-of-the-art laboratory, evaluate thousands of products each year. The VIP Award winners stand out for their pioneering breakthroughs and are also tested for performance and safety.

According to Mirima Arond, director of the Good Housekeeping Research Institute, “The winners of our 2010 VIP Awards represent a wide variety of product categories and stand out for the innovative way they make family’s lives easier. And, of course, the engineers, chemists, nutritionists, textile experts, and other scientists at the Research Institute evaluate the products to ensure they’re effective.”

Travel Chair and Cocoon Bunk Sack with Insect Shield: Whether camping in the wilderness or sitting on the sidelines of your child’s soccer game, you’ll want this portable chair as your perch. An insect repellent embedded in the fabric keeps biting bugs from ruining your good time (and is also EPA-registered and appropriate for use by children and pregnant women). The bunk sack has been similarly treated, and can be used by itself or as a cover for a no-itch night under the stars. Price: $60 (chair): www.travelchair.com and $30 (bunk sack): www.insectshield.com.

About Insect Shield Technology:

In July 2003, Insect Shield introduced the first EPA-registered insect-repellent apparel. Insect Shield® Repellent Apparel technology provides effective, invisible and odorless protection against mosquitoes, ticks, ants, flies, chiggers, and midges (no-see-ums) through 70 launderings. Insect Shield® Repellent Gear technology is proven to repel mosquitoes, ticks, flies, and fleas through six months of constant exposure to weathering (sun/rain). Insect Shield technology has the potential to be an important tool in the battle against insect-borne diseases and improve the health of people worldwide. In partnership with a number of agencies and international relief organizations, Insect Shield technology is being used for apparel and other items that people use daily to aid in protection against insects. Slacker Stool- 1389V

"I now keep one in my car ready for any type of activity where sitting is preferable than standing. You can insert your own activity here. The size make this easy to grab when in doubt, and has often served as a life saver.

Easily stored and low-profile. Almost no bigger or heavier than an umbrella. You will not complain taking it with you and will be rewarded by being rested and comfortable when you get up."

    Joey Chair- 7789V

"After owning this chair for a little more than half a year, I can confirm that this chair is all-around amazing. It is extremely comfortable and it is pretty light weight.

As others have mentioned, the feet outperform other chairs that have straight feet in the sand. The feet design allows for the chair to sit on top of sand rather than sinking in.

My friends are always jealous when I bring this chair to the park (which is every time, since its so easy to pack). So much that we often end up taking turns on it
If you're debating whether or not to get it, do yourself a favor and just buy it!"

    Big Kahuna- 599

"Awesome sturdy comfortable chair. I don't know why but I am the King Champion of breaking folding camp chairs. I am 6'2" 295lbs and have broke many 300lbs rated chairs, one chair cut up the back of my knee pretty good when it failed.

My son is 6'7" 325lbs and plays major college football, he has not even come close to breaking as many chairs as I have. Well the Big Kahuna Chair is rock solid and comfortable I don't ever see this chair failing. If it ever does I'll post it."
